I started in dogs in 1961 when we lived in Toledo, Oh. Our first breed was Pugs. Then we moved to Ventura, CA. In 1965. We wanted a larger dog for my son to show in Jr. Showmanship, so we got in touch with Judy and Pat Doniere since I went to High School with Pat in Toledo OH. I then had a chance to help a handler (Mr. Jack Dexter) one weekend, and the weekend turn into 4 years as an A.K.C. Licensed Assistant handler. I applied for my A.K.C. Handlers license in 1972. Was license for the Sporting group, Hound group, and Working group (before the group spilt).
Over the years at our Doberman National I have won winners Dog, winner Bitch (my 1st.National 1975), Grand Futurity, I have won the breed three time with "Ch. Brunswig’s Cryptonite", (tied a record) the last one was from the Veteran class in 1994, he was 8 years old. And he is still the "Top Working Dog of All Times" with 124 All Breed Best In Shows. "Top winning Doberman Pinscher of all times" "Kafka was owned by Samuel B. & Marion W. Lawrence.
I have won All Breed Best in Show with other breeds, such as Golden Retrievers, Pugs, Australian Shepherds.
In the fall of 2003 I retired as a Proffesional Handler to become a AKC Judge, I can judge the Working Group, Best in Show and also breeds and the sporting group and the Herding Group. I have judge the Doberman National in Mexico city, also judge Doberman specialty in Bangalore, India. I have had the honor of judging the DPCA Regional in Denver, Co and also in Topeka, KS last year. I have also judge Doberman specialty in Hawaii and Manila P.I. this year
